Jermain Taylor will defend his IBF middleweight title against Sergio Mora

JERMAIN TAYLOR‘S bittersweet comeback continues on February 6 when he defends his IBF middleweight title against the undeserving Sergio Mora at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Taylor – represented by Al Haymon and promoted by Lou DiBella - won the title from Sam Soliman in October last year via 12-round decision. That bout was largely derided upon announcement due to the 36-year-old Taylor being allowed to fight despite facing charges of shooting his cousin. The veteran’s return to world class combat was also criticised due to brain injuries he suffered following a savage 2009 loss to Arthur Abraham.

Mora's most recent noteworthy success came 18 months ago when he outscored Grzegorz Proksa over 10 rounds with the 34-year-old spoiler's latest victory coming over unknown Dashon Johnson in December.

Taylor and Mora were originally scheduled to collide back in 2007, when Mora infamously pulled out of the $1 million shot at the then-undisputed king because he felt the proposed Memphis, Tennessee venue was too close to Jermain's Biloxi, Mississippi home. There seems to be no such problem this time.

The winner of the ESPN-televised bout must face tough mandatory contender, Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam.
